About MyLXQ
My Life. My Experience. My Quality.
MyLXQ is a person-centred quality and improvement approach for care and support services. It helps organisations look beyond systems, processes and tasks to understand what care and support actually feel like for the person experiencing it.
By bringing together lived experience, everyday practice and organisational learning, MyLXQ supports meaningful improvement that can be seen and felt in daily life.
Why MyLXQ was created
Quality in care is often described through audits, policies, compliance and performance measures. These are important, but they do not always tell us what life actually feels like for the person receiving support.
MyLXQ was created to bring that lived experience back to the centre of quality improvement.
It encourages organisations to ask not only whether systems are in place, but whether those systems are making a positive difference to people’s everyday lives.
Specialist expertise in dementia care
MyLXQ is informed by extensive experience in health and social care, with particular expertise in supporting people living with dementia.
This specialist knowledge shapes our approach to lived experience, autonomy, communication, rights, risk, relationships and what it means to live well in care and support settings.
Our dementia-focused work can support organisations to look beyond diagnosis and task-based care, considering instead how everyday practice influences identity, choice, belonging, comfort, independence and quality of life.
Looking beyond compliance
MyLXQ does not replace regulation, governance or quality assurance. It adds another perspective.
It helps teams connect what they know from records, audits and oversight with what can be seen, heard and experienced in everyday practice.
Are we doing what is required?
What does this mean for the person?
Quality through lived experience
MyLXQ looks at quality through the everyday experiences that shape people’s lives.
It considers how people experience:
RELATIONSHIPS
CHOICE
IDENTITY
BELONGING
SAFETY
COMFORT
INDEPENDENCE
PLACE
This creates a fuller picture of quality — one that recognises that good care is not only about what is done, but also about how life is experienced.
Learning and improvement
MyLXQ is designed to support reflection rather than judgement.
It helps organisations identify what is working well, understand what may need to change, try different approaches and review whether those changes have made a meaningful difference.
Improvement therefore becomes a continuing process of learning, reflection and adaptation.
UNDERSTAND
Notice what is happening and what it means.
TRY
Make thoughtful changes in practice.
REVIEW
Explore what changed and what was learned.
ADAPT
Use that learning to decide what happens next.
A flexible approach
MyLXQ can be used alongside existing quality, governance and improvement systems. It does not ask organisations to replace what already works; instead, it provides another way of understanding quality through the experience of the people receiving support.
The approach can be used broadly across an organisation or to explore particular areas of practice in greater depth.
MYLXQ
A wider approach to understanding quality through lived experience.
NIGHTSAFE
